Not one more

When does it end?
This bleeding, hemorrhaging;
all bleeding stops eventually,
not all patients live.

When is it too far?
These signs are incompatible with life,
the patient is on the vent.
Do we pull out the pink juice?
Do we start a transfusion?
We are treating the symptoms
and pretending the disease will go away

Hoping against clinical judgement
That it will cure itself
A self-limiting, non-contagious
lethal disease

But it’s an epidemic now
No hope of a miracle cure
No signs of resolution with benign neglect
Or malicious

It’s time to re-evaluate
our treatment protocols
Patient is experiencing an adverse event
and requires emergent intervention

Let’s do what we do best
Innovate. McGuyver the shit out of this
Learn from other fields of medicine
and apply to novel situations

We can’t say
“Not one more”
Without stopping the transmission
